All nominees must be resident in South Yorkshire at the time of nomination.

Young coach of the year nominees must be aged 25 years or under on 31st December 2007

Young Volunteer of the Year
nominees must be under 20 years old at the time of submissions of the nomination.
Nominations may refer to any volunteering activities undertaken for any sport in South Yorkshire and beyond.
Club of the Year
Any constituted club recognised by their relevant National Governing Body is eligible for this award.
Clubs should demonstrate a commitment to development and increasing participation, and have had significant impact in increasing participation in their sport.
Nominations should refer to work and activity that has taken place between 1 October 2006 - 29 September 2007.
Rising to the Challenge - Sponsored by Dreams Project
Category open to anyone (individuals or groups) who has taken up or continued sport or physical activity against all odds, and is an inspiration to all.
Contribution to Disability Sport
Category open to anyone (able bodied or disabled) who has contributed in an outstanding way towards disability sport over the past year, as a competitor, coach or volunteer.
Nominations must refer to activity that has taken place between 1 October 2006 and 29 September 2007.
Business contribution to Sport in South Yorkshire
Open to all businesses and organisations based in South Yorkshire.
Aimed at businesses and organisations who have supported sport through sponsorship, time input, volunteering, expertise, promotion or other support between 1 October 2006 and 29 September 2007.
Fair Play Award (Official Referee or Umpire)
Sports Associations, clubs, officials, competitors, players and spectators, are all representatives of their sport, and must set a good example of fair play. As a result this award is for those who promote and champion fair play.
Contribution to Improving School Sport
For many children and young people, school is the main drive in their lifelong participation of sport. This award is for an individual, team or school demonstrating outstanding contribution to organising or developing sport in a school environment.
Contribution to Community Sport
Developing and supporting grassroots sport within the community is a challenge that is only achieved through the dedication of people working on the ground, in neighbourhoods with communities where individuals face many daily obstacles. This award is for people who commit to breaking down the barriers and making sport inclusive for all.
Fit for the Future Community Champion Award (Barnsley only)
Nominations may be for businesses, community clubs/groups/organisations or individuals who have supported people to be more physically active
Businesses would need to show how they have introduced policies etc. that support their employees e.g. innovative travel plans, incentives to be more active
Community clubs/groups/organisations need to give examples of programmes/initiatives they have developed or supported that have increased levels of physical activity, particularly among people who would not usually participate
Individuals may be part of any of the above but have gone that 'extra mile' in supporting others to be more active
Schools Award - Outstanding Achievement (Barnsley only)
This Award is for a school who has encouraged pupil participation in innovative practice related to sport and physical activity
Senior Volunteer of the Year (Barnsley only)
Nominees must be over 20 years old at the time of submissions of the nomination.
Nominations may refer to any volunteering activities undertaken for any sport or activity in Barnsley or beyond.
Community Sports Team of the Year (Barnsley only)
This team will have made a big difference within their community. They may or may not have achieved high level success but they will have worked with community objectives and in a spirit of fair play and equity.
